Dracaena fragrans Massangeana or the Happy Plant is an evergreen shrub that can grow to 15m in the wild but when grown in gardens seldom reaches 7m and indoors closer to 1.5m.
It has thick woody canes and crowns of broad, arching leaves that are darker green towards at the edges and paler green in the middle.
They grow well in warm temperate and sub-tropical gardens providing they are planted out of the direct sunlight in the semi-shade. When grown outside it produces clusters of small, cream, fragrant flowers followed by orange berries.
A popular indoor plant because of there neat habit and the tropical feel they add to a room. Unfortunately it rarely flowers when kept indoors. Place in a well lit room away from direct sunlight and drafts. even if kept indoors as the leaves will easily scorch.
