Echeveria elegans or Hen and Chickens is an unusual succulent in that it forms dense rosettes of blue grey leaves that are tinted on the margins with pink.
The pink bell shaped flowers have yellow petal tips and are borne aloft ultra thin stalks up to 25 cms above the foliage.
Unlike most succulents they are marginally frost hardy.
They go particularly well in pots and are an excellent contribution to dryscape gardens.
Echeveria are perhaps the easiest of plants to grow and maintain, going well in mixed succulent pots indoors or out.
