Chrysalidocarpus Lutescens or the Golden Cane Palm is an elegant palm with clusters of slender, smooth stems with a head of downwards arching feathery fronds.
The fronds are made up or lance shaped leaflets which turn yellow in the sun or remain a beautiful light green if cultivated in the shade.
Yellow flowers appear in summer and are followed by violet-black fruit.
An excellent indoor palm which can also be grown outside in warmer climates.
Their clump forming habit adds extra attraction as the palm matures and multiple trunks splay outwards making a graceful display. As such they are most effective when planted spaciously in order to appreciate the shape.
When planted more tightly ( e.g. In a row) their dense habit does however make a very effective medium to tall hedge or screen.
