Gunnera manicata is a large herbaceous perennial with huge (up to 1.75m wide) palm shaped leaves with serrated margins. The large leaves unfurl in spring and sit on erect, prickly/hairy stems.
It bears spikes of enormous greenish/red flowers in spring.
An amazing foliage plant that loves the shade and having its feet wet, so plant it on poolsides, boggy areas and next to ponds.
It's also marginally frost hardy.
