Luma apiculata is a bushy evergreen shrub or small tree with an upright habit.
The leathery dark green leaves are glossy and aromatic when crushed.
The bark and the flowers make this shrub special with cinnamon brown bark peeling to reveal lovely smooth cream wood underneath.
The creamy white cup-shaped flowers have fluffy, prominent stamens are borne in an absolute profusion from summer to autumn. Deep purple almost black cherry-like fruit appear after the flowers.
As with many species in the Myrtaceae family these can be used as hedging or grown singularly or in groups.
