Abelmoschus esculentus or Okra is a spring sown annual herbaceous plant that produces Hibiscus type flowers that mature to a finger shaped green seed pod that is a very popular ingredient in many cuisines.
The plant is erect, covered in hairs and is fragrant (smelling of cloves).
It has deeply lobed leaves that are borne on the end of long stalks and produces creamy, red eyed flowers.
A useful ornamental and vegetable in one.
