Corymbia maculata is a lovely tall, straight trunked tree that is too big for average gardens.
The bark is smooth with brown/grey mottled appearance and dimples the length of the trunk. Leaves are a mid green and lanceolate.
In winter in produces large, white to creamy fluffy flowers (the fluffy appearance is caused by the many stamen) The flowers are followed by medium size ovoid to urn shaped capsules.
These trees tolerate coastal conditions and salt laden winds. They will tolerate and mild frosts once established. They are also tolerant of Phytophthora cinnamomi.
The Spotted Gum makes a great amenity tree for parks and general public areas particularly in coastal areas.
