Adiantum aethiopicum or the Maidenhair Fern is one of the prettiest and most delicate ferns, with slender black stems with a mass of delicately rounded pale green leaflets about 8mm diameter.
The stems emerge from underground rhizomes to unfold making a very good foliage display that fill well in shady plantings e.g. in amongst Bromeliads etc and around pools.
They go well indoors anywhere providing they are kept moist with a fine leaf spray every few days, bathrooms make an ideal location due to the humidity.
You can also grow them outdoors from Sydney and northwards providing they are kept out of cold draughts and strong direct light.
