I have a fence that is very near to my biocycle system...less than 1 meter. I need privacy on this fence and was thinking of growing pyrostegia on the fence....will it develop a large root system that may compromise my biocycle tanks ??
Hey Chris, Flame Vines are known to be invasive, but that really refers to their above ground growth. They do have vigorous roots but they tend towards the horizontal habit with one larger tap root going vertically downwards. I can't say definitively that it would be safe close to your bio-cycle system. If in doubt then try planting it in a large tub, it will restrict its overall growth but could still be enough top provide the cover and privacy you are after..
