Does anyone have any ideas on how to deter possums for eating all my new plants!? They are stripping them all. Each time I come home from work another plant has been stripped of all it's leaves. If any one has any ideas, can you please email me.
thanks Sandi
Hey Sandi, well there is a tried and tested product thats been on the market for many years called Poss-Off. We sell it here in the Garden Shop. its bitter tasting and deters them in many cases so they go elsewhere in search of food. Here's the link:-

Alternatively you can make it very uncomfortable for them by laying plenty of rose cuttings around where they need to walk to get at your plants. The rose thorns are very painful on their feet and they'll soon chose to go elsewhere.
There are various malodorous approaches, but this often means you have to put up with the smell too - these include:-
- spraying with Lapsang Souchong tea,
- spreading blood and bone around,
- sprinkle mothball flakes around your plants or hang them in pantyhose bags from your plant,
- spray with fish sauce or garlic soaked in water,
- and even Tabasco sauce sprayed on has been suggested by many in the past as being effective.
An alternative to all these rather unpleasant to humans approach is to cover your fruit or veggie patch with netting. Again we have some in the Garden Shop - right here:-
