Anemone coronaria is the most popular Anemone and it is quite frost hardy.
Best planted en-masse, the winter dormant tuber sends up feathery foliage in spring and profuse, simple poppy type blooms that are either single or double in red pink or blue.
They make first class cut flowers but tend not to live too long and are best replaced every two to three years.
To get them off to a good start, soak them in water overnight before planting out - this will help them to germinate more quickly.
Plant about 5cms deep and about 10cms apart.
Water them well on planting and then leave them be, checking occasionally that the soil is not bone dry, but don't overwater as this can cause them to rot.
