Pulsatilla vulgaris or the Pasque Flower is a clump forming, herbaceous perennial with rosettes of finely dissected grey-green, hairy foliage and 6 petalled, blue to purple, yellow centred, nodding flowers.
These emerge in spring and are carried above the attractive, fern-like foliage on erect stems.
These hardy plants go well in rock gardens or alpine style designs, gravel gardens and pots and planters.
They can be difficult to establish, but one their roots are well set they will continue to produce lovely, delicate alpine flowers for many years. But do not disturb them once set.
