Overview
A spreading tree that bears pink flushed, white flowers before or with the leaves in mid to late spring.
It has a vase shaped habit that makes it an excellent choice for silhouette plantings. The blossoms are borne in pendulous clusters that emerge from spurs.
Soil: Almost any well drained soils.
Maintenance: Needs little maintenance - does not need pruning to flower - unlike the fruiting plums
Diseases: These vary according to the locality
Comments: Believed to be the ancestor of the Japanese flowering cherries.
