Davallia pruriens is a popular fern with glossy dark green, fine foliaged fronds that can reach outwards of one metre.
It has brown and furry scales covering the above ground rhizomes - probably the reason for the name.
It will grow as an epiphyte on rocks or trees but is most often seen in hanging baskets where it forms an elegant and thick draping display.
It can be deciduous in cooler climes.
