Leucadendron argenteum or the Silver Tree is an evergreen tree with striking, sliver-grey foliage made up of pointed, oblong leaves covered in silky hairs.
It has insigificant flowers, that are difficult to distinguish from the foliage that appear in winter and early spring. These are followed by large, dark brown seed cones.
It is relatively short lived but quite lovely.
It is diminishing in the wild and approaching 'endangered species' status.
