Howea fosteriana or the Kentia Palm is a rather elegant palm tree with smooth trunk and feathery, fan shaped, pendulous foliage on smooth stalks.
It has fleshy and small flowers on long arching spikes which mature to small, red fruits.
It has a small root system and can therefore be transplanted easily when quite mature.
The Kentia palm is very long lived and makes a good indoor or tub specimen.
If planted outdoors ensure there is some shade for it in its early years.
