Mentha spicata or Spearmint and sometimes called moroccan Mint is a hardy, fast growing, perennial herb with serrated, crinkled green foliage that is pungently fragrant and the most used mint in cooking.
The leaves are used to make mint sauce, mint jelly and to add flavour to boiled potatoes, peas as well as fruit drinks and deserts.
It also makes an excellent infusion on its own, with some added sugar, or with green tea. Mint tea also combines perfectly with ginger for a refreshing drink with added pick-me-up.
N.B. BEWARE - IT IS HIGHLY INVASIVE, so grow in a container only or it'll be all over your garden in no time.
