Leptospermum scoparium is an attractive, evergreen shrub with slender leaves that appear in shades of copper and turn to green as the season progresses.
It bears rosette shaped flowers of pink and white that appear in profusion all through winter and spring to brighten your garden.
They make good, long-lasting cut flowers.
A trim after flowering will promote stronger flushes of flowers.
This is the famed Manuka that the bees feed on to make extraordinarily expensive Manuka honey. It is true that the Manuka plant does contain some antiseptic properties but the magical capabilities of the honey are perhaps a claim too far. It does taste good however.
