The largest of the casuarinas and very good at stabilising river banks.
Foliage appears from top to bottom making it a good windbreak.
Can be messy but the spent needles make very good natural mulch.
Soil: Fertile, moist, well drained soils - can take wet feet.
Maintenance: Water well in hot conditions - not so much in winter.
Can tolerate heavy frosts.
Pruning not neccessary.
Comments: Makes excellent firewood that burns very evenly.
