Viburnum opulus or the Snowball Tree is a vigorous and robust, deciduous shrub that produces clusters of white flowers sometimes so heavy they weigh down the arching branches.
Its foliage is maple-like and coarsely toothed and turns brilliant red/yellow in autumn.
The flowers produce glossy orangey/red berries which hang around deep into winter.
This is a useful plant for gardens with mixed light in that although it likes full sun, it can survive happily with some shade throughout the day. Generally the more sun it gets the denser it is.
