Campanula medium or Canterbury Bells is a biennial that is erect and long stemmed bearing crowded spires of blue, white or pink bell shaped flowers that peel back at the lip.
Pretty and cottagy, they make a good backdrop to a border.
There are also dwarf varieties and others with double flowerheads.
The colours will be richer the more shade they have and avoid exposing them to very hot dry winds.
The flowers are an intense mauve-blue.
A very popular garden plant all around the world.
Canterbury Bells are an excellent choice for flower beds, borders and containers.
