Hosta plantaginea or the Plantyain Lily is a clump forming plant with beautiful heart shaped, deeply veined and ribbed green leaves.
In late summer it produces thin stalks on which hang delicate white bell shaped waxy flowers which are very fragrant and orange scented.
Excellent in borders or pots they are often grown for their foliage alone which dies back in winter - to re-sprout in spring.
Varieties include:
"Aphrodite" produces double flowers that rarely open, however the buds themselves are quite attractive.
