Russelia equisetiformis is an evergreen shrub with a weeping, Rush-like habit.
It has long, thin arching stems with rather inconspicuous leaves and very showy displays of red, tubular flowers all year round, but peaking in summer.
It is especially good in rockeries or raised locations where it can drape itself elegantly.
It is often seen in seaside locations as it is quite salt tolerant though it is a bit frost tender.
Also good in pots and hanging baskets.
Russelia equisetiformis Lutea has creamy yellow flowers.
