The Yellow Peacock Flower, Dietes bicolor is a good addition to garden borders, it remains fairly compact and flowers for many months.
It forms rounded tufts of pale green, sword-like basal leaves.
The pretty yellow open-faced flowers have maroon/brown spot on each large tepal and grow on tall stems above the leaves.
Although the flowers only last a day, hence the name day iris, it has a long flowering season. I
t flowers predominantly in spring and summer but in warmer areas can flower most of the year.
