Hedera canariensis is a very hardy, evergreen climber that will cover anything with its dense dark green foliage.
It has large glossy green triangular leaves on redish/green petioles (leaf stems) and noticable white leaf veins.
It produces aerial roots that will grip onto almost anything.
It also makes a very graceful ground cover, particularly under trees.
It is used to cover anything from old buildings and glass to steep banks and is very good at stabilising such areas. Care is needed to control its width spread as well as ensuring that it does not climb any nearby trees.
