Neodypsis decaryi is a large sculptural palm growing up to 3.5m.
The feathery fronds are arranged in three vertical rows around the stem giving the trunk a distinctive triangular appearance, while the crown has an elegant vase shape.
The leaflets closest to the base of the fronds often have long thready appendages that can hang down to ground level and the base of the fronds are coated in a blue/grey felt-like down. The trunk is scarred with the stems of old fronds creating a lovely textured appearance.
In large areas it can make an interesting feature plant.
