Ophiopogon planiscapus is a rhizomatous, clump forming perennial that is best as an edging plant or groundcover.
It has tufts of sparse blackish-purple grasslike leaves up to 10mm wide and produces small racemes of lilac to white flowers.
Good under trees and can also be grown in pots indoors.
N.B. It should not be planted in full afternoon sun as the leaf tips will burn.
