Spathiphyllum wallisii or the Peace Lily is a dwarf species that bears elegant pointed glossy dark green leaves that grow in a tufted, layered manner.
But it's the gorgeous white flowers that make this plant so attractive.
When in flower, it will produce large yellow flowers spikes on individual stems and each flower spike is surrounded by a white, papery spathe that contrasts beautifully to the dark, lush foliage.
Like most Spathiphyllums, it does require adequate light in order to flower, though this should be diffuse not direct sunlight.
It can be grown outdoors in temperate climates in bright but shady locations.
