Arisarum proboscideum is a hardy, rhizomatous, woodland perennial that sometimes grows from a tuber.
Dark green, arrow-shaped leaves form a dense mat of foliage with the flowers appearing in amongst the foliage.
The small, yet distinctive dark maroon and white flowers are hooded, with brown spathes appearing in spring. With their brown bodies and long curling tails they look remarkably like mice.
Very good when planted in groups under trees or in shady borders.
