Pleioblastus auricomus is a dwarf Bamboo with an upright habit of purple/green canes that spread by stolons.
The variegated leaves are marked with yellow and bright green stripes and have a downy surface.
Because this bamboo spreads by rhizomes it is important to keep a check on its spread, as it can be invasive.
Unlike some bamboos which grow very quickly, this one is slower, taking up to ten years to reach its full height.
