Belamcanda flabellata is a rhizomatous perennial that grows in a clumping manner, producing sword shaped grey-green leaves that resemble those of an iris.
In summer the distinctive flowers are produced on long, stiff stems.
They have a delicate appearance with six petals that are pure yellow and make a strong statement in borders.
These are generally short-lived perennials and they prefer a warmer climate.
