Cercis canadensis is a small, ornamental, deciduous tree with attractive foliage and spectacular flowers.
The leaves are a special feature of this tree. There are heart shaped, pale green and turn yellow in autumn. The variant 'Forest Pansy has heart shaped leaves that are a vibrant purple/burgundy.
An abundance of rose coloured flowers appear on bare branches in spring creating a spectacular sight from spring to early summer.
The new leaves appear just after flowering making this tree an attractive specimen almost year round.
A useful small tree with a rather loose and uneven habit, but this is half its charm.
