Grevillea sericea is a vigorous, small to medium sized shrub with grey green leaves that have pointed tips and hairy undersides.
A profusion of spider-like flowers are produced over a long period from early autumn through to spring. They are grouped into clusters on the short branchlets which grow off the main stem.
There are white and mauve varieties with some getting towards pink as well.
The Silky Grevillea is a popular plant in general cultivation having attractive foliage and long displays of colourful flowers. It is also relatively compact and easy to look after.
Nectar feeding birds are not as drawn to this Grevillea as they are to others like G. rosmarinifolia, but bees like them a lot.
One of the more popular cultivars is Grevillea sericea 'Collaroy Plateau' which has pink flowers.
