Knophophia is a compact, clump forming deciduous perennial with thin, strap shaped leaves.
Long flower stems shoot straight up from the basal clump, atop of which appear gloriously showy flower spikes that are orange with red tips.
They provide a welcome splash of vibrant colour and a distinctive graphic effect in the garden.
Fully frost hardy.
Varieties include:
"Bressingham Comet" - had red and orange flowers
"Candle Light" - has yellow flowers
"Little Maid" - has yellow flowers that turn cream as they age
'Lemn Popsicle' has lemony yellow flowers.
