Phlox subulata or Alpine Phlox is a prostrate alpine perennial which produces terminal masses of star-shaped flowers in white and shades of lavender, pink or purple from late spring through to summer.
It makes a great ground cover with flowers produced in profusion making a great splash of colour in spring and summer.
The evergreen foliage is short, narrow, rather needle-shaped and mid green in colour forming a dense mat over the soil.
Excellent to cascade over walls and rockeries, as well as steep banks.
They also go well in pots and planters.
