Salvia leucantha or Mexican Bush Sage is a bushy evergreen sub-shrub that's valued for its flowers that are borne over a long flowering period.
The flowers are purple or white and are borne on erect spikes from winter through till spring.
Both the stems and leaves are coated in downy hairs and this adds to the texture and interest of the plant.
It can be used as a flowering hedge or a good medium sized mid to back border plant.
It can handle moderately dry conditions and is generally very easy to grow, being tolerant of some periods of shade throughout the day.
Varieties include: Purple Velvet and White Velour
