Edmondia pinifolia or Strawflower is an evergreen subshrub rather than a perennial with deep green, narrow leaves that have downy undersides.
The flowers are cup shaped with rows of overlapping petals, very papery and borne on the tip of low branchlets in spring.
If your climate is prone to frosts then you can overwinter these plants in a greenhouse.
Good in borders and rockeries and especially good as cut and dried flowers.
