Banksia baxteri is a medium to dense native shrub with unusual, alternate fan shaped leaves with triangular lobes that start rusty brown and mature to green.
The flowers that are borne from summer through to autumn are strikingly fabulous being hemispherical in shape and greenish, silvery yellow.
This Banksia most resembles the stunning Proteas, being of the same family.
Not surprisingly it is much sought after for cut flowers, though it does make a very good garden specimen in medium to larger gardens.
