Banksia coccinea is an erect shrub or small tree that normally grows to about 4-5 m.
It has smooth, grey bark and broad leaves with toothed margins.
The flowers are deep scarlet to orange cones and fairly squat by normal Banksia standards. They appear in late winter to early summer and make a dramatic impact in gardens and as cut flowers.
This is a rather open format plant but the rewards of the amazing cones more than compensate.
