A dense clump-forming plant with green succulent type foliage, though 'Purpurea' has purple foliage.
It has a scrambling nature and distinguished by its pointed leaves and small, sterile, three petalled pink flowers.
The leaves and sap can be irritating to the skin - so be careful when working with them.
It is used as an accent plant in borders or as a striking ground cover. Prefers light shade but will grow in full sun but strong summer sun may cause leaf sunburn. It can grown in coastal gardens where it will tolerate sea spray and even saline soil.
It can also be used as an indoor hanging plant in cooler climates where it is very effective in improving air quality as it filters out many volatile organic compounds.
