Callistemon pearsonii is a striking native shrub that deserves to be more commonly cultivated and is gaining an ever increasing market following.
It is a compact, spreading shrub, the leaves of which are linear, leathery and topped with a sharp point.
The flower spikes are about four centimetres long by five centimetres wide and are deep red with spectacular golden anthers.
Although smaller than other Bottlebrushes the red and golden combination is quite unusual and very conspicuous in shrubberies and garden beds while also attracting birds.
Callistemon pearsonii makes an excellent low hedge or can provide a stunning edge to deep borders.
