Camellia reticualta is less commonly available than its famous cousins C. japonica and C. sasanqua, but they bear very large flowers, sometimes up to 20cms in diameter in late winter.
Flower colours include many shades of reds, pinks and pure white and you'll also find a fair few variegated blooms as well.
The evergreen bushes are upright and open with large leathery, matt green leaves varying to shiny dark green.
Camellia reticulata is often grafted onto C. sasanqua rootstock and as a result may be more expensive to buy, but the amazingly large blooms will make it worthwhile.
