Justicia rizzinii is an evergreen shrub with a dense and rounded habit, the stems grow upward and outward from the base. Grown outside it can reach a height of 1m and spread of 1.5m. When grown under glass it tends to remain much smaller growing to around 60cm tall and wide.
This is a very attractive plant and is a splendid addition to sub-tropical to tropical garden beds. In cooler climates in can be grown in a container under-glass.
It has small oblong to ovate leaves shiny deep green leaves. Although it flowers for most the year the best display of flowers is during winter and spring. The flowers are very pretty, tubular in shape and red with yellow tips.
