The leaves of Banksai cuneata are wedge-shaped with serrated edges, having from one to five teeth along each side.
These leaves are very prickly so tend to restrict the plant from being cultivated extensively.
The upper surface is dull green; as with the stems, both leaf surfaces are covered in coarse hairs when young, but these are soon lost.
Banksia cuneata is known for its unusual and striking flowers growing at the ends of branches which are pink and cream, dome-shaped and around three to four centimetres in diameter.
