Calliandra emarginata is a low growing shrub with an open habit. It is native to Guatemala, Honduras and Southern Mexico.
For most of the year delicate fluffy pink flowers are produced. What we see are the brightly coloured pale to deep pink stamens, the petals are small and inconspicuous.
The compound leaves are made up of between 4 to 8 elliptical to ovate leaflets.
Calliandra emarginata makes an attractive addition to garden borders in the tropics and sub-tropics. In cooler climates it can be grown in glasshouses.
