Chamaecyparis obtusa Nana or the Dwarf Hinoki Cypress is a slow growing, dwarf variety of the species which is a dense, squat-conical shaped evergreen shrub that is grown for its fan-like glossy dark green foliage in attractive horizontal sprays.
This compact plant grows well in pots and is very ornamental, but will also make a good contrast or accent amongst other plants in shrubberies or rockeries.
Chamaecyparis obtusa is not a fast grower - in fact 1m in ten years is average - a plant for the patient or bonsai grower.
Frost hardy.
