Acacia brachybotyra is a medium size spreading shrub or erect small tree depending on the local conditions.
It comes from the dry areas of Australia and tends to not grow well in the the wetter more humid areas of Australia.
The leaf-like phyllodes are are grey-green in colour, elliptical in shape and grow alternately along the branches
In spring the tips of the branches are covered with bright yellow fluffy ball shaped flowers. Clusters of up to 6 flower heads on long stalks grow from the each phyllode axil.
