Isopogon formosus is a bushy and rather straggly shrub native to the woodland areas of SW Western Australia.
It is a smallish shrub growing to about 2m in height and width.
It has deeply divided leaves and terminal clusters of mauve-pink flowers from mid winter to early summer.
It prefers full sun but will tolerate small amounts of shade. Once established it will tolerate moderate frosts.
This is a plant that grows best in areas with dry summers and wet winter - the Mediterranean climate of WA. Under these conditions it is a lovely shrub. In more humid areas of Australia it will struggle and you should look for a plant that has been grafted onto root stock that is more tolerant of the conditions in the Eastern states.
