Spiraea nipponica is an upright and spreading, deciduous shrub with rounded leaves that have slightly serrated edges.
Its crowning glory however are the neat rounded heads (corymbs) of pure white flowers that appear in early summer all along the arching stems and attract a lot of butterflies to your garden.
These are easy, small shrubs to grow in most gardens and provide a lovely display of late spring to early summer colour - albeit that its white!
They make a good hedge or an excellent background to colourful borders or in shrubberies.
