Borinda papyrifera is a highly ornamental, clumping bamboo that comes from high altitude in the Himalayas and is therefore best suited to cooler climate gardens.
They feature very attractive green culms that are covered with a grey-white powder creating a beautiful blue glow. The culms then slowly mature to various hues of green and yellow topped off with feathery, lance-shaped green foliage.
They will not do well in humid conditions and high temperatures and can sometimes lose their leaves in winter, though new growth will appear in spring.
This is one of the most attractive bamboos of all, though still relatively rare, you can find them in specialist bamboo nurseries.
